LCS Laboratory Inc., offers a variety of inhalable dust sampling pumps and laboratory testing as one all inclusive sampling kit.
World Health Organisation offers the following definition of inhalable dust: “Inhalable particulate fraction is that fraction of a dust
cloud that can be breathed into the nose or mouth.” Inhalable dust includes all particles that can be suspended in the air, from nano-particles to large, sand like grains. The international convention of Industrial Hygienists, defined Inhalable Dust as “one with a mass median diameter of 100 micron.”
In Ontario, Canada, the level of inhalable dust is strictly regulated. The concentration of inhalable dust in the workplace, even if it is not specifically regulated, should not exceed 15 mg/m³ (2103). Some heavy metals (like Nickel) must be collected using inhalable samplers.
LCS Laboratory uses inhalable samplers developed by the Institute of Occupational Medicine (IOM, UK), which became known in the USA and Canada as IOM samplers. The sampling procedure is defined in method MDHS 14/4, and must be performed at 2 L/min.
