Isocyanates are common in many Canadian workplaces, especially where foams, coatings, insulation, and spray products are used. They are also one of the more challenging groups of chemicals to monitor properly. For HSE professionals, reliable sampling and laboratory analysis are essential to protect workers and document compliance.
LCS Laboratory Inc. provides isocyanate testing services to industrial hygienists, consultants, and industrial clients across Canada. We focus on practical support, clear reporting, and dependable turnaround times.
What We Test
We analyse a wide range of compounds, including:
- Methylene bis(phenyl isocyanate) (MDI)
- Toluene diisocyanate (TDI)
- Hexamethylene diisocyanate (HDI)
- Polyisocyanates and partially reacted products
These substances are frequently found in automotive manufacturing and refinishing, spray foam insulation, coatings, adhesives, and construction materials.
Exposure can lead to skin irritation and, more seriously, respiratory sensitization and occupational asthma. Once a worker becomes sensitized, even very low airborne concentrations may trigger symptoms. That is why careful monitoring matters, especially during spraying and other high-exposure tasks.
Analytical Method
We use OSHA 5002 for the collection and analysis of isocyanates. This method supports the measurement of monomers and oligomers in workplace air and is widely recognized in occupational hygiene practice.
Results are reported clearly, with detection limits and quality control information included, so you can confidently use the data in your assessments and reports.
Designed for Canadian HSE Practice
As a Canadian laboratory, we understand provincial exposure limits, reporting expectations, and field realities. Working with us means:
- No cross-border shipping complications
- No currency exchange concerns
- Clear turnaround times
- Reports structured for Canadian regulatory use
Our goal is to make the laboratory part of your project straightforward, not complicated.
Sampling Equipment and Technical Support
We supply the sampling media and equipment needed for isocyanate air monitoring, including treated cassettes and personal air sampling pumps. If needed, we can help you select the right sampling duration, confirm flow rates, and review your sampling plan before you go to the field. We also provide clear shipping instructions to help preserve sample integrity.
Working With LCS Laboratory
Isocyanate sampling can be sensitive to handling, timing, and field conditions. We work directly with Canadian HSE professionals to make sure samples are collected and analyzed properly, and that the results are useful for decision-making.
