LCS Laboratory Inc. performs precise melting point (MP) determination following the OECD 102 guideline. Melting point is a fundamental physical property required in Section 9 of the Safety Data Sheet. It defines the temperature at which a solid transitions to a liquid under equilibrium conditions, and it supports accurate hazard classification, storage guidance, and regulatory compliance.
Why Accurate Melting Point Data Matters
Handbook values are not always available, especially for proprietary formulations, complex mixtures, waxes, and polymers. When reference data is missing or uncertain, direct measurement is the only defensible approach. Our laboratory provides reproducible MP values suitable for SDS preparation, regulatory submissions, and internal product stewardship.
Scope of Testing
We measure melting points for:
- Pure solids
- Industrial waxes
- Polymers and polymer blends
- Specialty materials lacking published data
All measurements follow the OECD 102 protocol to ensure consistency with international regulatory expectations. We can cover the range of temperatures from -15°C to +250°C
Additional SDS‑Relevant Testing
LCS Laboratory supports SDS authors with a full suite of physical and chemical property tests required under WHMIS, OSHA, and GHS frameworks. This includes flammability, vapor pressure, partition coefficient, pH, density, and other Section 9 parameters.
