LCS Laboratory Inc., offers air sampling tubes, pumps and laboratory testing of Nicotine. With 18 years in Industrial Hygiene laboratory testing, we provide only the highest quality results.
Nicotine has boiling point of 254 ºC and is therefore volatile liquid from a health and safety perspective. Nicotine concentration in raw dry tobacco is between 0.6 to 3% by weight, and it’s concentration in tobacco products varies widely. In the past nicotine was used as an insecticide, but has now been replaced with synthetic products. Industrial exposure to Nicotine may occur during the harvest of tobacco plants, their processing, manufacturing, and storage of tobacco products.
Time Weighted Average Exposure Limit (TWA) for Nicotine is set at 0.5 mg/m³ as vapor (Ontario 2017). Samples are collected on XAD-2 tubes at 1 L/min for up-to 400 minutes. LCS Laboratory analyzes the samples using the NIOSH method 2544 with modification (capillary column and GC-FID detector). We offer air sampling pumps and sampling adsorbent tubes for Nicotine sampling. Our detection limit is 1-3 μg/sample.
