At LCS Laboratory, we specialize in providing accurate and reliable analysis of surface wipe samples for traces of nicotine. With our expert team of scientists, we developed a one-of-a-kind test method that combines the versatility of the NIOSH 9102 procedure and the accuracy of NIOSH 5524 methods.
Nicotine can be present in indoor environments due to secondhand smoke or as a result of industrial processes. Testing for nicotine contamination can help identify areas where smoking may have occurred or where smoke has traveled, allowing for targeted cleaning and remediation efforts. By minimizing secondhand smoke exposure, the health and well-being of individuals, particularly non-smokers and vulnerable populations such as children, can be protected.
The samples can be collected on alcohol wipes from one square foot surface to achieve better sensitivity. The client can collect surface wipe samples following the NIOSH 9102 procedure. This procedure provides standardized guidelines for sample collection to ensure consistency and accuracy.
Once the samples are collected, the client can forward them to our testing lab for analysis along with a request form. In the laboratory, we extract nicotine from the surface wipe samples and analyze the extract for Nicotine by NIOSH 5524 procedure using Gas Chromatography. This step allows us to concentrate and isolate nicotine from the samples for accurate analysis. Our testing procedure has a detection limit of 5 ug/wipe, allowing us to detect even trace amounts of nicotine.
Results and Reporting: Once the analysis is complete, we provide comprehensive reports that detail the nicotine levels detected in each sample. Our reports include all relevant information, such as sample details, analysis methodology, detection limits, and any additional findings or observations.
