Vitamin A

Looking to monitor airborne levels of Vitamin A and D3 in your workplace? LCS Laboratory Inc. provides a validated method for the sampling and analysis of these vitamins, offering comprehensive testing to ensure a safe and compliant work environment.

Why Test for Vitamin A and D3 in Industrial Air?

Airborne exposure to vitamins like Vitamin A (Retinyl Acetate) and Vitamin D3 (Cholecalciferol) may occur during the manufacturing or handling of fortified products, supplements, or raw materials. Although no official Occupational Exposure Limits (OELs) exist for these vitamins in North America (as of 2016), exposure estimates can be derived from health-based guidelines:

  • Vitamin D3: Tolerable Upper Intake Level (UL) is 100 µg/day. Airborne concentrations should not exceed 5–10 µg/m³.
  • Vitamin A: Reference Daily Intake (RDI) is 1000 µg/day, suggesting airborne levels should remain below 50–100 µg/m³.

These estimates align with internal occupational exposure limits adopted by some industries, ensuring worker safety in environments where vitamins are processed.

Method Details: Accurate Sampling and Analysis

LCS Laboratory Inc, validated a method of HPLC UV detection and analysis of vitamines A and D3 of PTFE filters:

  • Sampling media: 25 mm PTFE filter with a pore size of 0.45 to 2 microns.
  • Flow rate: Samples are collected at 2 L/min.
  • Dual collection: Vitamin A and Vitamin D3 can be collected and analysed from the same filter, optimizing sampling efficiency.

Reporting limits:

  • Vitamin A: 10 µg/sample
  • Vitamin D3: 2 µg/sample
