LCS Laboratory offers ready-to-use air sampling kits for professional Air Quality Testing in Automotive Repair Shops and Garages. A Typical Kit includes 2-15 portable air sampling pumps, hoses, cassette holders, filters, and adsorbent tubes to collect airborne dust and vapors. The kit is developed for health and safety professionals with previous experience in air-sampling. While air sampling itself is relatively straightforward, and we put all efforts to add as many sampling manuals as we can, it is still very important that you have previous experience in air sampling procedures and policies.
Typical sampling takes 4-6 hours and covers workers exposure for:
- Total Inhalable Dust; Sampling on IOM cassettes as per MDHS 14/4 method followed by gravimetric analysis.
- Metal Dust (grinding dust); Sampling on IOM cassettes as per MDHS 14/4 method followed by Metal scan for 12 -26 metals by NIOSH 7301 using the ICP AES procedure

Welding Fumes; Sampling on 37 mm MCE cassettes by the NIOSH o500 procedure followed by a Metal scan for 12 -26 metals by NIOSH 7301 using the ICP AES procedure
- Glass, and asbestos fibers (dust from bodywork and old brakes); Sampling by the NIOSH 7400 method followed by a PCM analysis
- Petroleum Hydrocarbons (fuel vapors); Samples are collected on charcoal tubes with an analysis by GC FID as per the NIOSH 1550 procedure
- Paint solvents; Samples are collected on charcoal tubes with an analysis by GC FID as per the NIOSH or OSHA method.
- Hexamethylene diisocyanate (catalyst in automotive paint): Sampling on 37mm cassette as per theOSHA 42 procedure
- Diesel Particulates (diesel and gasoline exhaust); Samples are collected by the NIOSH 5040 procedure on quartz cassettes.
- Formaldehyde (exhaust fumes): samples can be collected ether on DNPH tubes of Diffusive samplers.
The list above is what we typically suggest to automotive businesses. You do not need to do all of these tests.
