Our Testing Method: NIOSH 6015
We follow the NIOSH 6015 standard method to accurately assess worker exposure to ammonia gas. This includes:
- Sample Collection
Gaseous ammonia is captured using sulfuric acid-treated silica gel in glass sorbent tubes over the course of a full work shift. This provides a reliable Time-Weighted Average (TWA) of exposure. - Sample Extraction
Once the sample reaches our lab, ammonia is carefully extracted from the sorbent media. - UV/Vis Spectrophotometric Analysis
We use a validated spectrophotometric method to determine the ammonia concentration in the sample. - Detailed Reporting
Results are reported in parts per million (ppm) and can be directly compared to regulatory limits, such as the Ontario Occupational Exposure Limit for ammonia (25 ppm).
