LCS Laboratory offers a laboratory test for the group composition of petroleum solvents for the calculation of the Group Guidance Value (GGV) using the Reciprocal Calculation Procedure (RCP).

The Ontario Ministry Of Labor (MOL) adopted the ACGIH procedure for the calculation of occupational exposure limits of petrochemical products, in accordance to their group composition. A complete procedure can be found here. Based on the MOL recommendations, all components can be split into 4 groups with equal GGV. Such re- grouping doesn’t affect the result of the calculations, but greatly simplifies the analysis:

  1. C5-C8 alkanes and cycloalkanes with GGV 1500 mg/m3
  2. C9-C15 alkanes and cycloalkanes with GGV 1200 mg/m3
  3. C7-C8 aromatics with GGV 100 mg/m3
  4. C9-C15 aromatics with GGV 200 mg/m3

LCS Laboratory analyzes bulk samples of your solvent(s) for the above-mentioned groups, using a combination of different NIOSH GC and HPLC methods. From there we are able to calculate a GGV value specific for your product. For more information, please call us.
