This method is easy and is not time consuming.
Safety first. When you take a sample, presume the worst and protect yourself from asbestos. For 100% protection, you need to use N100 or P100 dust masks. If you do not have one, you can buy them in any hardware store.
Collect a sample. Use a utility knife or a chisel to cut off a small piece of flooring. You will only need a piece the size of a dime.
It is important to take samples of all layers that you will be removing: flooring, glue, mastic, underlay down to plywood or concrete. Place the sample into the bag, close it, and label the bag with a permanent marker. Write simple labels such as: “Yellow flooring from kitchen” . If you want to test more than one sample, each sample should be placed in a separate bag. Please take as many samples as you need and label each bag.
Keep Records. Download a “request for analysis form”, and complete your name, phone number and email address. Select how quickly you need your results back, and list all the samples that you are testing. Please sign the form
Prepare Your Shipment. Place your samples and the signed request form into a larger Ziploc bag. Place your order into a padded envelope or a box, and ship it for laboratory analysis to:

How much does it cost?
Payment. Please do not send us cheques or any payment with your samples. Once we receive your order, we will send you a request for payment by email. You will need to open the email and follow the link that says “View and Pay“. Once you open the complete invoice, in the upper left hand corner, find “pay now” , and pay the invoice with either a credit card or PayPal.
Receive the Laboratory Results. We analyze your samples and send you a laboratory report by email. Each report includes the results for the samples that you sent to us. For example, if you sent 2 samples, you report may say: “Ceiling paint from kids’ bedroom – Asbestos was not detected “, or “Yellow flooring from kitchen – 3% of Chrysotile asbestos” . If any of your samples show an asbestos concentration of 0.5% or more, you need to be especially careful, as it is considered an “Asbestos Containing Material”
