Reactor with 3 coupons
LCS Laboratory offers laboratory testing of corrosion rate of metals by ASTM method G31-72.
We have the capacity to run up to 8 separate experiments simultaneously to provide you with fast results. The experiment will be configured to meet your exact requirements. The following configurations are available:
- Volume of liquid sample from 0.5 to 1 L
- Testing on 1, 2, or 3 metal specimens for better accuracy of the corrosion rate.
- Metal specimens can be in contact with liquid or with it vapour: a) metal is fully immersed into the tested liquid, b) metal specimen is half immersed into liquid and partially exposed to air, and c) metal specimen is suspended in air without touching the tested liquid.
- We can use your metal specimens, like: pieces of steel, screws, rivets or bi-metal parts. They should be shorter than 100 mm.
- We can provide standard metal coupons as per your specification of alloy
- We can use your liquid sample, prepare standard solution, or mimic sea water
- Corrosion rate can be reported in mm/year, mg/year, or % of weight per year
- Test can be performed at any specific temperature from 0ºC to up to 95ºC
- Test Duration can vary from 24 hours to 7 days
- Test can be performed in stagnant liquid or aerated liquid
- Accelerated corrosion test is available.
Testing usually takes 7 days, but it may be interrupted if any of the coupons fully disintegrate before the end of the experiment.
