Technical Details of Corrosion Rate Testing

- Liquid Volume: Experiments can be conducted with liquid samples ranging from 0.5 to 1 L.
- Specimen Accuracy: Testing can include 1, 2, or 3 metal specimens for enhanced precision in determining corrosion rates.
- Exposure Configurations:
- Fully immersed in the liquid.
- Partially immersed with exposure to both liquid and air.
- Suspended in air without liquid contact.
- Metal Specimens:
- Use your own metal specimens, such as steel pieces, screws, rivets, or bi-metal parts (maximum length: 100 mm).
- We can also provide standard metal coupons based on your alloy specifications.
- Liquid Samples:
- Use your liquid sample, a prepared standard solution, or a simulated seawater solution.
- Corrosion Rate Reporting: Results can be reported in mm/year, mg/year, or % weight loss per year.
- Test Conditions:
- Temperature range: 0ºC to 95ºC.
- Duration: 24 hours to 7 days.
- Liquid conditions: stagnant or aerated.
- Accelerated corrosion tests are available upon request.
Test Duration and Results
Standard testing typically takes 7 days. However, if any metal coupons fully disintegrate before the test concludes, the experiment will be interrupted, and results will be reported accordingly.
