For your convenience, we maintain an inventory of 50+ air sampling pumps, countless cyclones, IOM samplers, manifolds, holders and a number of small items important for preforming quality air sampling. Our rental rates are the lowest in the industry, but will still account for approximately 20% of your laboratory bill.
What is better: to buy a pump? Or to rent it? Let’s do some math. One personal air sampling pump from SKC or Sensidyne (in minimum configuration) costs around $900 plus tax and shipping. The typical maintenance cost is around $50/year for each pump, this includes cleaning, filter and tubing replacement, and an occasional repair work. Every three years, you will need to buy a new battery, which costs $170/pump. The second largest expense is a calibrator. This will cost another $900, and requires annual re-calibration at $150/year.
As you can see, if you preform more than 2-3 sampling jobs a month, it is more economical to buy your own equipment. In the long run, the investment will pay off. If your sampling needs are not as high, or you are simply beginning of your career and do not know how much sampling work you need, we suggest starting with equipment rental. It is affordable and doesn’t require any initial investment.
