LCS Laboratory Inc. offers a specialized test kit and laboratory analysis for respirable crystalline silica in residential air, using a method tailored for low-level detection. Inhaling respirable crystalline silica is a known health hazard, and while the NIOSH 7602 method is typically used for industrial settings with higher quartz concentrations, our approach is optimized for residential air, where expected levels are significantly lower.

Innovative Approach for Residential Air Quality
Traditional methods, designed for concentrations of 10-1000 µg/m³, lack the sensitivity needed for residential environments, where silica levels are often below 3-5 µg/m³ over a 24-hour average. To address this, we developed a trace analysis technique using a 24-hour respirable dust impactor collection. This unique approach enhances sensitivity to meet residential air quality needs, ensuring reliable data at very low silica concentrations.

How the Process Works

  1. Order Your Sampling Kit
Email us with your location and the number of rooms you’d like to test. Once your order is placed, we’ll ship the necessary sampling equipment directly to you.
  2. Air Sample Collection
The kit includes a calibrated air sampling pump and multiple sampling cassettes. Each sample requires 24 hours to collect, so plan accordingly. Once sampling is complete, simply return the equipment to us for analysis.
  3. Silica Quantification
At our lab, we analyze the dust samples for Crystalline Quartz and Cristobalite using the NIOSH 7602 method, with sensitivity down to 5 µg per sample. This allows us to accurately detect crystalline silica at concentrations as low as 2 µg/m³ in air when collected over 24 hours, meeting clean air standards for residential safety.

Ensuring Compliance and Health Risk Assessment

Our method’s sensitivity meets established clean air guidelines, providing an accurate assessment of respirable crystalline silica levels in residential air and aiding in health risk evaluations.

For residential or ambient air silica testing, contact us via email to place an order or discuss your project requirements. LCS Laboratory Inc. is committed to delivering precise, reliable air quality analysis for your peace of mind.
