Days 2-3: Asbestos Testing Level 2 – In-Lab Practice for Fiber Identification (In-Person)
These sessions offer intensive, hands-on practice directly in your lab. Under one-on-one guidance, participants will work with real-world samples on the microscopes they will later use for client analysis. This direct training approach ensures proficiency with your laboratory’s instruments and instills confidence in identifying asbestos and non-asbestos fibers. This level is essential for those responsible for asbestos testing in construction and renovation contexts.
Day 4: Asbestos Testing Level 3 – Advanced Sample Preparation (In-Person)
In this advanced session, participants learn specialized techniques for preparing complex materials such as vinyl tiles, linoleum, vermiculite, tar shingles, and cement board. This module covers methods for handling samples that cannot be directly examined with microscopy, ensuring precise identification and reporting for challenging sample types.
All participants who complete Levels 1-3 will receive a Training Certificate, verifying compliance with EPA, NIOSH, and OSHA standards for asbestos analysis using PLM.
Optional: Asbestos Testing Level 4 – Proficiency Challenge
Participants seeking additional qualifications can opt for our Level 4 Proficiency Challenge. Within five days of completing the main program, participants analyze 10 blind samples independently. Achieving a minimum 90% accuracy earns the Proficiency Certificate, a recognized benchmark of excellence in asbestos analysis. Ideal for lab personnel aiming for advanced skills, this challenge allows participants to demonstrate their capabilities without instructor supervision.
