LCS laboratory offers 100’s of tests for air quality studies. We are trying our best to publish all available tests as individual web-pages. We have already prepared hundreds of unique web pages and are planning to add hundreds more. If you cannot find what you are looking for, please check our pricelist for the most up-to-date list of available tests.
In this article we’d like to discuss the air sampling of organic compounds that are found in the form of dust or mist. It is customary to classify airborne contaminants into 4 groups: gases, vapors, semi-volatiles, and non-volatile organic compounds. As it can be concluded from their name, Non-Volatile Organic compounds have a very low vapor pressure. In other words if such a compound is dispersed in air, it forms a dust cloud without any significant evaporation. As a rule of thumb, non-volatile compounds have a boiling point above 350C and a saturated vapor pressure of less than 0.0001Pa .
Examples of Non-Volatile chemicals that can be collected as dust or mist would be:
- Cellulose
- Metal Working Fluids
- Oil Mist
- Paraffin Wax
- PVC Dust
- Tetrahydrocannabinol
- Vitamins
- Wood Dust
