LCS Laboratory Inc., offers size selective samplers for inhalable dust, sampling pumps, and laboratory testing as one all inclusive sampling kit.
The World Health Organisation offers the following definition of Inhalable dust: “Inhalable particulate fraction is that fraction of a dust
cloud that can be breathed into the nose or mouth.” Inhalable dust includes all particles that can be suspended in the air, from nano-particles to the very largest, sand like grains. The international convention of Industrial Hygienists defined the Inhalable dust as one with the mass median diameter of 100 micron.
In Ontario, Canada, levels of inhalable dust is strictly regulated. Concentration of inhalable dust in the workplace, even if it is not specifically regulated, shouldn’t exceed 15 mg/m³ (2103). Some heavier metals, like Nickel must be collected using inhalable samplers.
LCS Laboratory uses inhalable samplers developed by Institute of Occupational Medicine (IOM, UK), which has become known in the USA and Canada as IOM samplers. The sampling procedure is defined in method MDHS 14/4, and must be performed at 2 L/min.
