LCS Laboratory Inc., is accredited by the AIHA-LAP, LLC  to perform chemical analysis of construction materials for asbestos. As a part of the accreditation requirements, the format of our laboratory reports must comply with the ISO 17025 standards. This may make the results very technical and difficult to decipher. In this article we will explain how to read and understand it.

Please open an example of asbestos report and we will break down the different parts of the report.

  • Letterhead shows our company name and contact information. This is where the test was performed.
  • Your name should be shown
  • A unique work order was assigned to your project. If you have any questions, please call us and quote this number.
  • Your samples are identified the same way as you labeled them on the request form
  • Laboratory results are listed in the very last column of the table: “Asbestos Content”
  • “RL” stands for Reporting Limit. This is the lowest concentration that our laboratory can detect and report to you.
  • At the bottom, you will find the signature of the chemist who analyzed your sample, followed by name and the signature of the second chemist who double checked the results and the report.
