LCS Laboratory Inc. offer professional laboratory test of Total Spore Count (viable and non‑viable) using Air‑O‑Cell® and Allergenco-D™ inertial impaction cassettes. All analyses are performed in accordance with ASTM D7391‑09, the recognized standard for the classification and quantification of airborne fungal structures in non‑culture-based spore trap samples using optical microscopy.

Why Routine Mould Monitoring Matters in Canadian Buildings

Canada’s climate creates ideal conditions for fungal proliferation, particularly in structures experiencing elevated humidity, condensation, or moisture intrusion. When mould growth becomes established, it can contribute to a range of adverse health outcomes, including respiratory irritation, allergenic responses, and chronic sensitization with prolonged exposure. Routine airborne mould monitoring is a critical component of indoor environmental quality management, supporting early detection, source identification, and mitigation before occupant health or building integrity is compromised.

Sampling and Analytical Protocol

Airborne spore trap samples are collected over a 5‑minute interval at the flow rate of 15 L/min. Our laboratory performs morphological identification and enumeration of 12 major fungal spore groups, providing quantitative concentrations expressed in furgal structures/m³ for each category. We supply Air‑O‑Cell® and Allergenco-D™ cassettes at no charge, and our standard analytical turnaround time is 10 business days. Calibrated air sampling pumps are available for rental to support field investigations.
