LCS Laboratory Inc. offers laboratory analysis of surface wipe samples for Tetrahydrocannabinol (THC) as a measure of property contamination and an indicator of second hand Cannabis smoking. THC is an active component of Cannabis products and can be used as a signature compound for the identification of cannabis dust and it byproducts. THC has a very high boiling point and therefore is almost non volatile at room temperature. Once precipitated on cold surface, it is expected to remain intact for a prolonged period of time.
LCS Laboratory has developed and validated a high sensitivity method for the detection of THC on surfaces with a sensitivity of 200ng per sample or 20 ng/100cm² if collected from a square feet area.
Sampling kit includes individually packed alcohol pads that are used as wipes and disposable nitrile laboratory gloves. Samples are collected from the contaminated area using the NIOSH 9102 procedure and should be returned to our lab for analysis. THE SAMPLES MUST BE collected from glass or stainless surfaces, such as: window glass, mirrors, glass bottles, decorative ceramic (vases), or stainless glass surfaces like refrigerators. DO NOT collect samples from floor, walls, any other painted or varnished surfaces. Paint, varnish, floor dirt, and other chemicals may interfere with analysis.
Our laboratory extracts the THC from the swabs, we concentrate and purify the sample before the analysis. Finally, the THC is analyzed by a proprietary HPLC-UV method.
