Vitamin A

Vitamin A

LCS Laboratory Inc. provides a validated and reliable service for the sampling and laboratory analysis of Vitamin A (Retinyl Acetate) and Vitamin D3 (Cholecalciferol) in industrial air. These vitamins are collected as inhalable dust using 25 mm PTFE filters with a pore size of 0.45 to 2 microns at a sampling flow rate of 2 L/min. Both vitamins can be collected and analysed from a single filter, ensuring efficiency and accuracy.

Reporting Limits:

  • Vitamin A: 10 µg/sample
  • Vitamin D3: 2 µg/sample

Although occupational exposure limits for Vitamins A and D3 have not been established in North America (as of 2016), approximate air concentration estimates based on Health Canada’s Tolerable Upper Intake Levels (UL) and Reference Daily Intake (RDI) provide guidance:

  • Vitamin D3: Should not exceed 5-10 µg/m³.
  • Vitamin A: Should not exceed 50-100 µg/m³.

These estimations align with internal occupational exposure limits accepted by select industries (confidential document, 1998).

Why Monitoring Vitamins A and D3 in Air Matters

In industrial settings, particularly those involved in food processing or pharmaceutical manufacturing, airborne vitamins can pose health risks to workers. Regular monitoring helps identify potential overexposure, ensuring compliance with internal standards and promoting a safe workplace environment. By identifying and controlling inhalable vitamin concentrations, you protect both your workforce and the integrity of your operations.
