Ingredient Disclosure Testing

Ingredient Disclosure Testing

When you test your house for asbestos, sometimes you need to take multiple samples of the same material and test each sample separately to prove that it is clean from asbestos. In Ontario, Canada, this requirement is a part of the Ontario Asbestos Regulation 278/05 which specifies the number of duplicates to be tested.

When you take multiple samples of a material, it is a good idea to take them from different parts of the house, rather than to take two or three pieces that are laying inches apart.

EXAMPLE: The same kind of floor tiles are installed in hallway,  kitchen and bathroom. To make sure that floor is free from asbestos, take a piece of tile from each room and send it to our lab for analysis. If they all come back clean, the entire area is considered to be asbestos free. If any of the 3 samples come back with detectable asbestos content, the entire area covered with the tiles  should be treated safely as the material contains asbestos.
